A bridge not far enough

It seems like at least once a week we hear about how America’s infrastructure is crumbling before our eyes. We should count ourselves lucky because other countries don’t really have infrastructure, and then there are countries whose infrastructure just disappears.

Turkey is one of those countries. That’s where authorities are asking if you happen to see a bridge, please let its owners know. It’s about 82 feet long, weighing around 44,000 pounds, and all steel. And as of Monday morning, the bridge is missing.

Police believe that the bridge, which was regularly used by villagers nearby, was cut up overnight by thieves and then sold for scrap. Fortunately, several shady characters have stepped forward, claiming to have a bridge to sell them.
