Eat My Sports: The no T.O. show

If you are one of the fortunate people to never have seen Terrell Owens on your favorite team’s NFL roster, you are of a lucky breed. Owens’ career path has taken him from San Francisco, Philadelphia, Dallas, Buffalo and VH1, but never to a Super Bowl title or any amount of respectability. In short, Owens’ diva act has led almost all NFL teams to not even consider taking on him and his baggage at this point.

The problem now is this: Owens’s has been drama-free for almost four years now. He did what was asked of him in Dallas and Buffalo and has been productive in each of his campaigns in each city. Owens is a top-32 receiver, capable of breaking down any secondary as well as being a possession receiver. But no one wants him because of his past.

When Owens and agent Drew Rosenhaus waged war on San Francisco and Philadelphia, Owens painted himself into a corner that people would pay for him in his youth, but the moment production slipped the tiniest, they would find someone else to match his production at half the cost and none of the baggage.

So now we are at the juncture where Owens has been humbled, wants a ring, is willing to take a pay-cut, but nobody wants him anymore. And if you look at the path of destroyed quarterbacks along the way, no one can blame a single NFL city for not wanting him.

Will some NFL team sign him? Probably. But don’t be surprised if Owens is playing on your office’s flag football team this fall either.
