What’s great about a bar is that you can go out and have a good time drinking with your friends. What’s bad about a bar is that other people exist. Studies have shown that not talking to strangers in a bar decreases your odds of getting in a fight. Unfortunately, it also means you miss when something cool happens.
In Florida, two robbers, one armed with a shotgun, the other carrying a rifle, took money from a bar and walked out, all while patrons in the bar kept drinking. The robbery happened at about 1:30 a.m. last Sunday, which may help explain why so many people didn’t see it happen or just didn’t care. The bar owner said people kept ordering drinks during the robbery.
We’ve had nights like those.
In the days of yore, it was said that the only people with any honor were the chivalrous knights and their lords. Thieves were a cowardly lot full of curs, lacking any form of honor whatsoever, ready to rob and kill anyone at a moment’s notice. Of course, as history has proven, those same characteristics can be applied toward anyone, no matter how low or high their standing.
But today, we live in the 21st century! It is a new day and age! While we may not live in a golden age of jet-packs (as we were promised), we do live in a world where honor lies among us all. Impugn the good name and be prepared to answer for it.
Even the “good name” of armed robbers.
There may be a crime problem in the U.S., but we really don’t have anything on the criminals of Nigeria, because they use trickery to outfox the local law enforcement–or at least they try.
A goat was arrested in Nigeria recently in connection with an attempted armed robbery. The police said the goat, was part of a gang that tried to steal a car. Wait, there’s more. Local vigilantes told police they were on patrol when they saw two people trying to steal a car, when they chased after the thugs, one used black magic to turn into a goat. We are glad to hear that animals are not escaping the long arm of the law in at least one country. To hell with libel laws, the goat clearly did it.
“‘We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat,'” police said.
So far, the goat isn’t talking.
