I’m not really sure what kind of a world we live in, anymore–at least as far as movies are concerned. Judd Apatow makes a serious (and disappointing) movie, Johnny Depp and Michael Mann somehow manage to flop at the box office, and some alien-Guantanamo thing is #1. What the hell?

The country right now is all about sequels or related spin-offs. Just take a gander at Transformers 2: Revenge of the Volume Dial and G.I. Joe. Hasbro is trying to get their nostalgia products formed into a movie genre aimed at the 25 and under crowd, plus toy sales. I get that movie makers want to stick with franchises that work, but do we really need a G.I. Joe 2?

Truly giving new meaning to the term triple double-cross

Even Shakespeare knew in the 17th century that frivolous suits were the bane of civilization. Sadly, some near 400 years later, we’re still living in a litigious society that knows no bounds. Especially when it’s clearly a victim’s fault that a driver hits them in a head-on collision.

KY Rep files bill, wishes could do so anonymously

This just in: Kentucky has the Internet. 

However, at least one of their lawmakers doesn’t “get” it: “Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal.”

The bill would require all Web sites to force anyone submitting content to register with their full name, address and email address.  Any sites that publish comments from the elusive Anonymous will receive fines ranging from $500-1000.

Who would be hit hardest by this bill?  Day planners and poetry Web sites, of course.  Also affected would be any site publishing the work of anonymous bard William Shakespeare, whoever the hell that was; Mark Twain (real full name: Samuel Clemmons); and the Federalist Papers.
