We’re angry at Barack Obama

So, Mr. President-elect Barack FancyPants Obama: you announced there would be 20 positions in your cabinet. You’ve disappointed women because you only appointed five of those seats to women, the same number as Bush and Clinton had in their cabinets.

But, more egregiously, you appointed no (0) SeriouslyGuys to your cabinet, which is also the same number as Bush and Clinton had in their cabinets.

It’s not like we aren’t qualified or didn’t apply.

All we hoped (remember that word?) for was to take this country a step forward. Instead, you’ve taken shocking steps backwards. We guess our constituency does not matter to you.

  1. Mr. Obama will only be able to “please some of the people some of the time” so he should try to please as many as possible and this is usually the middle ground. He certainly cannot call all the angry groups each time he makes a decision. That would certainly breed anarchy? Come of folks, stop throwing “hissy fits” and act like adults. Focus on what is more important for the good of ALL Americans and try to reach a common groud on these.

  2. Appointing women to Cabinet positions in order to appease the angry feminists is an extremely flawed concept.

Here’s a new and novel concept, it’s crazy, but hear me out: Appoint the most qualified people, regardless of sex, race, etc.

So crazy, it just might work.

  3. He’s damned if he does…and damned if he doesn’t….he is choosing the BEST for this nation and its people…if the majority are black, white, male or female so be it…..he should not choose someone just to appease a certain group.

  4. Here’s one for you. Obama’s cabinet is 25% women. That is actually disproportionately high, considering only about 17% all of congress and all governors are female. This may mean that there were probably some men more qualified for the position that were passed up. To me, that’s sexism.

  5. seriously, NOW is all angry cause they got 5 of 20 spots? do they assume that there will ALWAYS be an even balance of women to men qualified for such things? or maybe that qualifications aside we should have it split 50/50 cause thats more important that quality? maybe all 20 should be women? this is about whats best for the nation, not some angry woman’s, or mans, EGO.

what is wrong with people? its not like there is no women, there are 5 in a place that has 20 spots open. whats the ratio of men to women in government? and if there is less women in government than wouldn’t this just make sense? also, remember crazy NOW ladies, its the choice of each person to enter their carer, so its no ones fault if less women choose this as a carer path than men, its just a number.

  6. Really? Is this what people are angry about? not what Mr. Bush is sneaking in in the last few weeks of office? Spend you anger wisely fem-nazis. Jesus. I don’t care whether it s a male or a female in the position. Just Get the JOB DONE RIGHT FOR ONCE.

  7. This is the dumbest thing ever. How about ALL these groups drink a cup of “Shut the hell up” and let the President elect chose who he feels is best. Isn’t running things by everyones personal agenda, how we got into this mess.

  8. I don’t see anything wrong w/a 25% representation on the cabinet. Bush appointed several women during his 8 yrs & none of them accomplished anything, especially Condi the smart one) and some of them probably should be under indictment for illegal acts. I say be happy w/what you’ve got & hope they make a better showing that their predicessors. I haven’t seen the Hispanics or the blacks complaining about their nos. in the new cabinet.

  9. Don’t forget the “quality”, too. Arguably the plum cabinet job (Sec. of State) went to a woman. Numbers by themselves don’t tell the whole story.

  10. boo-hoo there isn’t enough women… yeah how about being qualified for the position regardless of sex, race, religion, etc. the stupidity of it all. and to the feminist groups… pfft iron my shirt bitch.

  11. I think all of these special interest (women’s, homosexuals, etc.) groups that are complaining about not being adequately represented are a joke. It seems they are never satisfied. They are the ones who are completely intolerant of people that have a different view than them. I say everything should be based on merit. Don’t even bring all of these other factors into the equation.

Every time somebody who is appointed/elected to a political office who isn’t a homosexual, minority, and a woman brings about complaints from all of these groups. The problem is that it isn’t ‘politically correct’ to disagree with them. I am surprised they aren’t crucifying Obama for being a straight, male, part white politician.

  12. It is so interesting that George W. Bush was never challenged about anything and look what we have. Americans, I understand the concerns, but some of these concerns may not be met right away.

Instead of attacking, let’s work with the new president-elect and give his cabinet the time necessary to turn our nation’s situation around which will be done!!!

  13. These women are angry whiners always ready to play the victim card! Women who are serious about doing something don’t join NOW and make noise, they do something productive with their lives.
