You Missed It: Sky high edition

I’ve got to be honest with you. Mentally, I have already checked out. I’m headed to Florida next Thursday. It’s so close, I can smell it. That has dropped my ability to care about your plights significantly. Don’t worry, I’ll make you sit through a boring slide show when I get back. If you were busy filing your taxes this week, odds are you missed it.

Fire and Iceland
A volcano in Iceland really messed things up for European air travel this week. The ash cloud emitted by the eruption was large enough to affect the skies over northern Europe. The issue is that the debris in the clouds and get heated in a plane’s engine and be turned to glass–which is bad. Flights were grounded, people are stranded, everyone is miserable. In response, the U.S. airline industry said, “A volcano? Why didn’t we think of that?”

SG in the LOC
It was announced this week that the Library of Congress will archive all of the public tweets on Twitter tweeted since the Web site’s beginning. Really, this is just a move for the LOC to put itself in its own records, because it has its own Twitter account.

Pulling out … of the race
Adult film star Stormy Daniels (with a name like that, how do you NOT end up in that industry?) has decided not to run for U.S. Senate in her home state of Louisiana, which is probably the state most likely to vote in a porn star. So for all of you beltway insiders looking forward to some sweet, sweet girl on girl legislative action with Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., there’s always Sens. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., and Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif.
